Asthma is becoming more and more prevalent. According to the CDC in 2013, children have an 8.3% (1 in 12!) incidence rate of asthma. Experts cite that combinations of factors are at cause, especially the increase of chemicals in our environment and molds in our homes. However, if this was the case, why wouldn’t everyone in the same house and environment have the same problems?
If you or your child has asthma, we know that the respiratory system is not functioning well. While medications may temporarily reduce symptoms and even save lives in an emergency, they never address the master system that controls the lungs, the nervous system. The spinal nerves in the neck control each and every breath taken. A spinal disturbance (subluxation) in the upper or middle neck can have an extremely detrimental effect on the ability to connect the nervous system to the lungs.
In a two-month study published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research, asthmatic patients who had chiropractic care had a 45% decrease overall in the number of attacks that occurred. 31% of patients were able to voluntarily decrease or stop medication. These results were highlighted specifically for asthma in children.
Chiropractic is NOT a cure for asthma, but has helped thousands of people be able to breathe better and participate in life more fully!
